Laura, who’s now twenty-two, would also have us believe that their relationship continued long after Liam moved to Los Angeles to further his acting career, and that when she saw her actor boyfriend of five years passionately kissing the world’s most famous teenager, Miley Cyrus, in The Last Song, she’d believed he was only doing his job. But, of course, Liam wasn’t faking, and shortly after completing the film, he jetted back to Phillip Island to break up with Laura, so that he’d be free to date Miley. ‘We became inseparable [and] there’s no other reason why we would have broken up,’ she told the magazine.

There’s no denying Liam has come a long way both geographically and career-wise in the three years since he played the paraplegic Josh Taylor in long-running Aussie soap opera Neighbours (which proved a springboard for his fellow actor Guy Pearce – who recently played King Edward VIII in the Oscar-winning 2010 film The King’s Speech – as well as pop princesses Natalie Imbruglia and Kylie Minogue).

Playing the role of a wheelchair-bound paraplegic was a rather demanding one for Liam, as he had to master getting around in a wheelchair whilst making it look authentic. And of course, things didn’t always go according to plan: ‘[I] just turned up on set, sat in a wheelchair. The producer came up to me one day and said, “We have to cut around that entire scene because your leg was moving.”’
